PJs, Prizes, and Paint: CMU Students Relax at “Ladies Night In”

MT. PLEASANT, Mich — Over 100 CMU students swapped their textbooks for bingo cards and pajamas at Blackstone Bar on November 13th.

“Ladies Night In” provided a fun-filled evening designed to offer CMU students a chance to unwind and have fun. The event was promoted through a flier posted on Facebook and Instagram by Tayah Broughman, one of the event hosts. Broughman, along with her fellow students in the RPL430 Plan Recreation Programs and Events class, organized the evening.

“We hope everyone who comes relaxes and uses this as a night to have fun with their friends,” said Adriana Fiorino, one of the event planners.

The event, held from 7 to 9 p.m., attracted 147 students to enjoy a laid-back night with friends. Admission was free, and attendees were encouraged to wear their pajamas, creating a casual, comfortable atmosphere.

Throughout the evening, students gathered around tables to paint wine glasses, shot glasses, and tote bags, while others posed with props in the free photo booth. The bar was decorated with star-and-moon fairy lights and cloud decorations. This created an atmosphere that added to the evening’s sense of fun and relaxation.

Tarot card readings, aura photos, and energy cleanses were available for those who registered in advance. These activities added a unique, calming element to the night. Specialty drinks, including vodka lavender lemonade and blackberry lemon drops, kept the crowd refreshed, and a $1 pizza deal satisfied late-night cravings.

The event also featured bingo, with a range of fun prizes, including gift cards, candles, and mugs. Students were given five tickets each for prize drawings of the raffle baskets. The event was sponsored by local businesses such as Orion MFG LLC, The Woods, Contracting Services of Michigan, and Isabella Bank.

“I thought the event was so cute and perfectly executed,” said Kaelyn Foltz, a senior at CMU. “They had so many bingo prizes, and the photo booth was so much fun. I really enjoyed painting the wine glass, it was so relaxing and overall it was a great event.”

Melina Marshall, a senior at CMU, said “The event was so much fun and I am so glad that I went. I went home with a fun painted wine glass that was my own creation, and a body wash from bingo. The decorations were great, it was set up beautifully. Such a good time spent with friends.”
